Summer Fun Drop-in Recreation Program

The Summer Fun drop-in recreation program is offered June 12 – August 4, Monday-Friday from 8:00AM-5:00PM (excluding July 4). Breakfast and lunch is served by the Santa Barbara Unified School District Summer Feeding program. Recreation staff are trained to enhance your child’s summer fun experience by providing a wide variety of games, crafts, and recreation activities. All registered participants may drop-in to the program at any time as long as they sign-in and out with a staff member.

Online registration is not available for this program.

Priority Registration

Priority registration for eligible families is Saturday, April 29 from 8:00AM-12:00PM at the Carrillo Recreation Center, 100 East Carrillo Street.

To participate in the priority registration day on April 29: a parent or legal guardian must bring official documentation that either the parent, guardian, or child receives one of the following: Free or Reduced Lunch (SBUSD or GUSD); CalFresh (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program); WIC (Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition Services); TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families); SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance); or SSI (Supplemental Security Income).

Due to the high demand of this affordable recreation program, the priority registration day is likely to bring large crowds. Please come prepared; we will be processing registrations as quickly as possible.

Open Registration

Open registration begins on Monday, May 1 at the Carrillo Recreation Center during business hours. If the program is full, a parent or guardian can place their child on the Summer Fun Recreation Program waitlist. When spots in the program become available families at the top of the waitlist will be notified.

Please note: Space is limited.

Registration Fee

New this year, a $25 non-refundable registration fee must be paid before your child is officially enrolled in the Summer Fun Recreation Program. This $25 non-refundable fee does not apply to participants placed on the program waitlist. If your child is on the waitlist and a spot in the program becomes available, the $25 non-refundable registration fee is due before your child attends.

In addition, children must attend the Summer Fun Drop-In Recreation Program three days a week to remain eligible for the program. Exceptions may be made due to illness, emergencies, or other extenuating circumstances.
